Acupuncture is governed by a professional order since 1995: L’Ordre des acupuncteurs du Québec.
Acupuncture is an ancient medical science that was developed over 5000 years ago. It is based on the presence of a vital energy essential to life that permeates the entire body. This energy is carried through a network of channels, known as meridians, to the brain, the organs, the muscles, the glands… throughout the body. When this energy is slowed down, and/or blocked, the result is fatigue, pain, headache and a variety of symptoms.
Acupuncture stimulates precise points of the body to revitalise the organism.
The first session lasts between one and one-and-half hour. The acupuncturist goes through a detailed interview with the patient, feels the pulse, examines the tongue and gives an energy diagnosis.
The acupuncturist uses sterile, disposable needles. What does an acupuncture needle feel like? The insertion of the needles is similar to the sensation of a mosquito bite and lasts a split second. Moreover, the sedative effects of acupuncture often brings the patient to deep relaxation and a feeling of wellness.
